Discovery Ridge is located “just down the hill” from the Mountain Inn. Stop by the Mountain Inn and pick up a map. Some walk to Discovery Ridge but most drive from the Mountain Inn. There is ample parking.
There is enough entertainment in Discovery Ridge to keep your family entertained all day. Here’s a list of Winter activities located in this popular region of the resort:
Ridgely’s Fun Park: This is a great snow park for the younger kids that includes a mini tubing area, snow forts and lots of snow.
The Plunge Tubing Park: Virginia’s largest snow tubing park provides lots of fun and screams for adults and older kids.
The NEW Zip: Wintergreen’s new Zip Line is in Discovery Ridge.
The Dome: Great indoor fun for older kids and adults, including Wii, flat panel TVs, movies, etc.

Day Trip to Wintergreen
I have received many calls and emails looking for advice on tips for day trips to Wintergreen Resort. So, here are some tips that will make your day trip a great one!
Tip #1: Arrive EARLY if you are visiting Wintergreen during a holiday. Arrive early, park and then enjoy breakfast. If the parking lots below the Mountain Inn are “full”, continue up Wintergreen drive and park in the large lot in front of the WinterGarden Spa and Fitness Center. Then, take the free Wintergreen shuttle to the ski area.
Tip #2: If you need to rent gear or buy lift tickets, head to the Ski Center and rent early. The Ski Center is below the Mountain Inn Village. Look for the green and white signs. Slopes open for day visitors at 9AM.
Tip #3: The Copper Mine Bistro serves a hot breakfast, including a buffet on the weekends and holidays. The General Store, in the Mountain Inn, serves coffee, muffins and bagels. They also have tables for dining. The Black Rock Market has coffee, hot chocolate and breakfast biscuits and they are only a short walk from the lower parking areas.
Tip #4: If you are not skiing or tubing, there is seating available in either the Gristmill lounge in the Mountain Inn or at Pryor’s Porch, just behind the Mountain Inn. Restaurant space is reserved for those dining and can not be used for just lounging.
Tip #5: Purchase your tubing or Ridgely’s Fun Park tickets on line at www.WintergreenResort.com This saves time and insures that you get your desired time slot. Time slots for these popular activities do sell out.
Tip #6: The fastest place to grab lunch is at the Pryor’s Porch Cafeteria. They open at 11AM and serve burgers, chili, pizza, salads and sandwiches. The line usually moves fast and they have lots of seating.
Tip #7: Wintergreen does not have a business center for day visitors. Bring your laptop and use it in the Mountain Inn. There is a small fee for WiFi for non-lodging visitors.

Q: Is it true that the Gristmill is going to have a bar with adult beverages?
A: Yes, the Gristmill bar will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during ski season. This is a full bar that also has a light menu of food to include cheese plates and sandwiches. Soon, there will be a flat panel TV with your favorite sporting events. (located in the Mountain Inn)
Q: Is there any lodging available for New Years in Wintergreen? (I am receiving several calls an hour with this question)
A: Many of the condos and homes are already booked until January 3rd. Nelson County does have B&B’s that are within a quick drive of Wintergreen. Visit www.NelsonCounty.com for a full list of lodging options. Book Today!
